Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate and Gold Coast City Council Coastal Engineer, Kim Bowra visited our dredging works at Tallebudgera Creek last week. Mayor Tom Tate climbed onboard a workboat to take first-hand look at the progress of the Tallebudgera works before it moves south to Currumbin Creek.
Mayor Tate said, "This dredging campaign is an integral part of our efforts to maintain and replenish sand on our beaches ready for summer". “Each day some 1000m3 of sand is being pumped around the Burleigh Headland and along southern Burleigh Beach from where natural processes help spread it north."
The Tallebudgera Creek dredging is scheduled for completion by September, prior to the school holiday period. The Currumbin Creek works are scheduled to finish by December 2015.
Once finished here the dredge will move onto Currumbin Creek to re-nourish southern Palm Beach with some 40,000m3 of sand from the creek mouth.
