Dredging has commenced in the Swansea Channel. The dredging will provide an improved navigation channel and boost safety for local boaties.
Dredging was expected to start mid October, but was delayed waiting for Environmental Approvals. The project is now due for completion early 2015 and will deliver a 60m wide and 3.5m deep channel.
About 80,000m3 of dredged material is being pumped up to 3.5km to Blacksmiths Beach.
The Minister for Roads and Freight said; “We have worked closely with the local community on this project and I’m pleased we are now getting on with the job of delivering for the people of Lake Macquarie,”
